Gunnar Scott Played by Sam Palladio
We first meet Gunnar in season one when he was the former sound engineer at The Blue Bird Cafe. Gunnar is a very kind, hard work big hearted character. He came to Nashville to get the experience of songwriting and performing. Through the series we have seen him be part of the band ZAG along with Avery Barkley (Jonathan Jackson) and Zoe Dalton (Chaley Rose), however when the band split Gunnar didn't want his music career to end and soon found himself with a new performing parter, Scarlett O'Connor (Clare Bowen).
As well as Scarlett and Gunnar having onstage chemistry, we have seen their relationship build offstage. But it has had it's ups and downs, just like any other relationship. At the end of season one we saw Gunnar propose to Scarlett, but sadly that didn't work out. Later in the series the duo signed to Rayna Jaymes's (Connie Britton) label, Highway 65 to pursue in their love of music and performing. In season four the duo are still performing together, however they made a deal that they were only 'friends' and just performing partners. However deep down Gunnar and Scarlett still had feelings for each other but didn't want to admit it. Later in season four Gunnar and Scarlett are invited to be openers for Autumn Chase's Tour. From this Gunnar finds a new love interest in Autumn Chase (Alicia Witt). When Scarlett finds out about Gunnar's new 'love' for Autumn she doesn't hold back and asks Gunnar about his feelings towards Autumn. But by the end of season four Scarlett and Gunnar's relationship rekindles on stage in front of Autumn Chase.
In season five we see Gunnar and Scarlett stepping further into the music business, by making their first ever music video. There are also many challenges regarding their relationship.
