Scarlett O'Connor Played by Clare Bowen
Scarlett O'Connor is a huge fan of Rayna Jaymes (Connie Britton), Scarlett is Deacon Claybourne's (Charles Esten) niece. We first met her when she was with Avery Barkley (Jonathan Jackson) in season one, backstage at the Grand Ole Opry. Scarlett came to Nashville with her at the time boyfriend Avery Barkley and loved writing poems. Later in season one, one of her poems was turned into music. She then performed it at one of the open mic nights at The Bluebird Cafe with her friend Gunnar Scott (Sam Palladio).
Scarlett later breaks up with Avery and finds a new love interest in Gunnar Scott, who also works at the Bluebird where she worked as a waitress. In the season one winter final Gunnar proposes to Scarlett, but Scarlett isn't on the same page as Gunnar. However Scarlett and Gunnar's relationship always seems to find it's way every now and again in the show. At the end of season four we see their relationship rekindle after spending some time apart, apart from when they're performing on stage together.
In season five we see Scarlett and Gunnar's music career taking another turn.
